Friday the 17th of October the UK weather was over cast and myself and 4 others where heading down to a weekends fishing at the the lovely ladywell lakes Stansted. Upon arrival we grabbed the buckets and set of in search of any signs of showing fish or fish activity half way round the lake we was greeted with what can either be described as fish spawning or fish feasting on a blood worm bed or fly hatch, being October we was all in agreement that it could only be feeding activity as spawning in October was unheard of and the water temperature didn’t feel warm enough. After finding out swims I decide to fish the end of the lake where a fair few of the fish had been seen, with the rigs out and bait presented in my choosen areas I continued to set up for the rest of the night the signs where good I had fish all over me but with a difference none of them was interested in my bait but seemed occupied on chasing each other, around 7 or 8 PM fish could be heard to my right crashing and booshing at a unbelievable rate a quick message to the lake owner to explain our findings and advice him of what we had witnessed his reply was “wow potential spawning in October that’s unheard of”.
Saturday morning and things where becoming more clearer I awoke around 4.30pm to witness the one thing we was all dreading shoals of fish chasing each other around the lake, carp crashing out backwards the lake foaming at a alarming rate, we was all stood in amazement and was shocked at what we was witnessing, with this the rods where quickly pulled in and the gear was packed away in the car. Sometimes mother nature can amaze us and the hobbie or sport we all love so much can be unprodictable.
On a good note I got to witness the north and south met after doing a 12 hr session on a lovely little lake called Bracknel.
