As 2014 draws to a close I thought I would share a quick collage of my years fishing together for your good selves to see. I have tried to pick fish from each month and from as many different fisheries as possible, so they aren’t all the biggest of the year but a variety from a variety of fisheries. The first fish is from Todber Manor and is in the shape of the White Lady a p.b ghost mirror at 25.10lb. This was a crazy session due to the gale force winds. The peak being me sat on my bed chair tying a new rig in my bivvy one moment and the next I was sat on my bed chair in the wind and rain with my bivvy doing one down the road.
February’s fish is a special one as it was for my birthday and it was a new p.b of 36.04lb. It is a shame that there is some rain on the lens but again this session was in gale force winds and torrential rain.
The next two fish are from February again but they are two fish that I have wanted from my local water Milemead for a while so I feel I should add them. The first is a fish called Samson at 23.06lb
and the second fish is called Clarissa and my choice for the most stunning in Milemead.
In the month of March it was my friend’s birthday and he chose to go back to Combley for it so I will add two more from there. The first is a p.b equalling fish and the second is my new p.b common. P.b equalling fish
36.04lb.
New p.b common 30.04lb.
For April I will add a photo from a friendly social match some friends and I had on Joseph’s lake at Stafford Moor. It was a great bit of fun and between the three of us we managed 88 carp (nearly all doubles) and one 11lb+ pike (on a pop up). This fish was the only twenty and reminds me of happy times.
21.06lb Joseph’s mirror.
May’s fish is from one of my most favourite places to fish and that is my syndicate in Cornwall. It is 36acres of windswept wilderness and can be a head banger at times. This session was an amazing one as I managed to put 10 fish on the bank which is just unheard of on Lower. Big thanks to my mate Kelvin who was doing a guest session with me for the great times and photos. Kelvin also managed to bank one on his first time on so happy days all round.
23.04lb of stunning common.
In June myself and 7 friends booked the newly opened Lakeside View Fishery specimen lake as an exclusive. Again it was a great social including the BBQ’s and mishaps (no comments Mr Sharpe) and this was one of 9 fish landed by myself.
Mid double linear.
In July I took my kids to see their granddad in Norfolk and somehow managed to get a quick overnighter on the lovely Airfield Lakes. I worked hard at this session as I had such a short period of time and it wasn’t fishing at its best.
I was more than happy with this upper double on the morning of packing up.
My August fish has been chosen as it was another social session with my mate Tom for his birthday, he chose Digger Lakes as the destination and off we set. It was a great session with Tom managing two fish and myself managing this cracking upper double.
September saw me head to a fishery that I haven’t fished in over 10 years. This was a bit of a punt really as I didn’t know what was in the lake and didn’t know if the stock had been affected by the ever growing problem of released otters in this area.
Well I don’t know if the otters are affecting this fishery yet but I did manage this lovely low twenty ghost mirror. Again I was more than happy but I do hope these fisheries get some help with the cost of otter fencing soon.
The beginning of October saw 3 of us travel to High Mill Lake in France for a week. The week’s slow fishing was more than made up for by the craic that I had with Bob and Steve so a great week was had all round. I did mange fish up to 46+ including this cracking mirror of 32.04lb.
November saw me land another cracker. Not everyone is a fan of ghost carp but I just love catching carp so I count them and at 25.04lb this stunner is definitely worth a mention.
Well I am coming to the end of my year so I will leave you with this low twenty common from Creedy Lakes, this common just blew me away because of its sheer length.
Well that is it from me and all I have to say is a big thank you to my friends for a year of laughs and captures, to Steve for his support at the start of the year, to John for taking me into the Catch team and to Velocity for taking on.
I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year and until next year stay safe and enjoy.
