Well here we go my first ever time writing a blog, it starts on a cold Sunday morning on Blackwater syndicate on the Isle of Wight.
After planning to meet my mate Lippy at the lake, I pulled up to the car park to find he had beaten me there. So after packing my barrow up, I slowly walked round to where I had been trickling in some bait and to my joy he was not in that swim. After a quick sort out of my gear I was ready to start fishing, plan of action was to fish small mesh bags of crumbled up squid and tangerine boilies from TOR baits and a little bag of pellet about the size of a 50p. Fished on a blowback rig with a size 6 Deception curve shank, a Rig Marole braided hooklink with Fluorocarbon inner and a squid and tangerine bottom bait and matching dumbbell popup topper.
One rod was fished to a bush tucked away in the far right hand corner which had a lovely deep whole under its branches.which wasn’t to choddy.
The middle rod was fished towards the far bank at the bottom of a slope of a shallow ledge which ran near a channel going into anouther part of the lake.the left hand was to be a rover which I was going to recast ever hour and half.
After I was well happy with the spots the kettle was put on, but as normal I had forgotten my mug so after a bit of handy work I made one.
After only a short time, around an hour or so the middle rod roared off which was a surprise since there had not been a fish out for over thirty days. After a very spirited fight Lippy slipped the net under a lovely 18lb common, well chuffed!
Before I even had a chance to get the rod back out, the right hand rod was away, blimey I’d found a nest of them – happy days which resulted in a cracking mirror of 23lb 4oz
After slipping that fish back and taking it all in, I was on it, tying bags and sticks like a man possessed.
After chatting with my mate for a bit, talking about how mad that was especially as he had not even had a bleep. I sat back happy as a pig in poo. Two hours later the mayhem started again with the middle rod ripping off first again, resulting in a stunning scaley mirror of 24lb 6oz
