Hi all ,
It’s been a while ago I wrote an article and it all has to do with my new company I started Seb’s Carp Range . I will offer the products I represent and I do special Carp Fishing Guiding tours in Holland where I will fish a long weekend , midweek and week full time with you and I will film this unique session we will do together with everything in it on a Seb way . I Guarantee you stunning pegs with stunning Dutch carp in it , you can chose different types of lakes and fishing and we can even do a mix to for fill your personal wishes . With this combination I offer you a session of a life time and it will make you a completer carp angler . For all info you can go to my new website www.sebs-carp-range.com Well the pressure is off and I woke up in my wright mood . As you all are used of me of course I fished this winter like always the target we had was the biggest lake of Holland called the Ijsselmeer ( 110000 acres ) .
We know in advantage this won’t be an easy task for us as compared with the amount of water it habitats a small amount of carp with many wild long commons and a few mirrors in it . So the decision is made and the question is where to start of course . Because it is winter in my experience you will find the carp in the area’s where the water temperatures will be higher compared to the rest of the lake think of harbours , Houses etc. as this zones have higher temperatures I can guarantee you will also find hi amounts of Crayfish , Crabs , Mussels and other shellfish species . An easy way to find this zones in this locations is spotting the birds as they will point you out the location where you can find the shellfish species for sure . To give you an extra edge first go and spot this zones with an binocular and watch what the birds are picking up to confirm you found the hot zone . Well we have done our research and spotted the zone we were looking for . We start with pre baiting small amounts of dumbels and pillows of 26 mm .
We do this because you have many chub , bream and hybrids in this endless lake and with fishing with bigger baits reduces the site catches a lot . You would think in this huge lakes the carp would have hard mouth’s but the reality is that they are super soft . So I decide to make a blow back rig with the deception Straight point chod hook size 4 . I will represent the rig in combination with a godman pva bag size m filled with crushed pillows and dumbels on a fishmeal base and with the other rod a scopex liver boilie . Like you all know I always bait up with a fishmeal boilie and a sweat boilie as I have confidence in this tactic and it always works for me . The Ijsselmeer is surrounded with rocks so it’s really a pain in the ass to fish it and to position your rod pods and to land carp on it as you have to climb over many slippery rocks .
So I never fish this lake alone as if you slip away on the rocks you can get heavy injuries and there is a big change no one will find you in that case so never fish it alone is my advise . We have pre baited the zone for 4 weeks and we decide to fish it in January . We arrive and build up the camp and get our rods in position with our Carp Lounge tackle rt-4 bait boat . It’s minus 2 that night and with the wind blowing fully in our corner it feels like -12 well it’s around 03:00 when Dennis gets the first take and after playing the fish for a while and some climbing over the rocks I land the first carp of 2015 for Dennis . A great looking wild common and after filming it we release this beauty and while I am filming the release I get a take on my rod and rush to my rod and strike after a while I can land a nice wild common as well and the first carp of 2015 is a fact for me also . We place the rods in position again and in the morning around 05:00 I get another take and again I land a stunning common . We weigh the carp and film it and release it and decide to pack up after an extreme cold night . Well the first session of 2015 is a great success for us and we go further on the baiting up tactic and decide to fish the peg again 5 days later . We always go after dinner to our peg so we decide to give it a go again full of confidence and build up our peg again and place the rods in position after 2 hours Dennis catches the first chub and short after that I land one also .
We have a big group of hybrid’s and chub’s in our zone and we only have activity this night of the wrong species but that is the risk on this type of lakes . We keep on using the same tactic and decide to fish it again 3 days later again . We do the same ritual again and after placing the rods with the rt-4 bait boat in position it keeps quiet till 03:00 and Dennis get a take blieeeeeeeeeeep the rod screams of like mad and Dennis strikes and we immediately see on the bending rod this is one of the better carp that the Ijsselmeer habitats . After 25 minutes I can land a fantastic looking long and vet common and after lifting it out of the water to the unhooking mat on the rocks I can feel it’s has a proper weight and Dennis smashes his Ijsselmeer pb for Shure . After making some pictures of this stunning carp and filming it we release this beauty in her habitat .
Wow Dennis says happy days mate and a view hours later we pack up and decide to fish it again the next day . We arrive and build up everything and place the rods in position again and have a view beers and search up our sleeping bags it is still extremely cold in Holland and I get a take around 01:00 and strike and I can feel immediately that this is a big heavy carp as it stays on the bottom and does what it want’s without me able to stop the carp and the carp swims to a pole with mussels on it and I lose the carp around it DAMN !!!! I knew this was a proper carp and I place my rod in position again. Around 05:00 I get a take again and my delkim screams off and I rush to it and strike . Yet again I can feel it is a proper carp and after playing it for 30 minutes Dennis is finally able to land this big carp . After lifting it to the unhooking mat on the rocks Dennis screams Seb it’s a big mirror mate !!! Yes it’s a gift to catch mirrors on this lake as it habitats just a few on this massive lake . We weigh it and we film and make pictures of this stunning carp and release this stunner . We decide to pack up and are both very pleased with our results so far .
Because I have shows upcoming and was already busy with building up Seb’s Carp Range this was the last session I could do for a while and I was forced to take an fishing brake . In the meanwhile the shows are over and I visited the UK and did some fishing also so soon I will come with my article and video exclusively for Catch and release . I hope you can put this article in your own advantage and I wish you all Tight lines .
