Hi all, well finally got to get a 48hr session in on bearslake. I had been baiting a few swims throughout the week and when Friday came there was a nice warm sw wind blowing across the lake so I decided to fish on badgers peg again I had previously had a 19lber off this peg and knew it had a fair amount of bait in this end of the lake. After setting up I placed a chod rig on both spots with specimen carp baits pink coconut cream on one and a maple and banana on other. I then sat back and waited for my mate Wayne to turn up who was doing a 24hr session. The weather was looking good, warm but overcast and fish were starting to bosh out over ourbaited areas. I was thinking this could be a good sesh, Wayne turned up about half six and set up a few pegs down from me.we started with a kebab and a few beers and a lot of carpy talk. Soon it was time to get my head down as it had been a very long week and I was glad to be back bankside. About 2am I was awoken by a few bleeps which turned out to be a tench and then at 5am another tench grrrrrrrr. I went to see Wayne as he’d had a tench as well. The weather had turned to rain and the wind had picked up, after breakfast I rebaited and recast both rods back onto the spots. Within a hour another tench had been caught and as Wayne was packing down he had another one I was beginning to think this was going to be another tench session, having caught 11 so far this season. Wayne had gone by dinner so I just sat back and chilled for a bit until the boy jay skinner turned up. We sat talking for a few hours then he left. Within minutes of him leaving I had a one toner on right hand rod I hit in to it and it went off like a train and took me right in to a bush. After a few minutes of bear Vs carp it all went slack and the carp had done me. As you can guess I wasn’t happy but got myself back together rebaited and recast back on spot. Then at 7pm my left hand rod ripped off determined not to be done again I took my time with it and after a good fight a 15lb 4oz mirror was on the mat, it gave a good account of itself for its size. Unfortunately I was on my own and had forgotten a camera so took a mat shot with my phone released the carp and rod was put back on spot. After some tea it was starting to rain and had become heavy so I retreated to bivvy and fell sleep until 11pm. I was happily woken by a one toner on right hand rod I hit into it again a good fight ensued and a 14lb 2oz mirror was on the mat another mat shot carp was released bear 2 carp 1. When morning came I had some brekkie the weather wasn’t to great for packing down, I hate packing down in the rain but it had to be done as I was out at dinner so the session was over a good one though 2 carp on the bank not the biggest but welcome and 3 tench all fish were caught on chod rigs and coconut cream pop ups fished over a bed of boilies coconut cream and claw berry from specimen carp baits so until next time thanks for reading
stay productive team catch and release
