Sitting at work cooped up in an office with the sun beaming outside, all I could think was “I need to be on the bank right now”, the more I thought about it the more the day dragged!!
I’d finally finished work around 5.30pm, rushing off home, I loaded the van and set off to my local members water.
When I arrived there was only two people fishing, which surprised me as it was such a nice day, but on the upside it gave me more options of where to set up.
It was quite weedy which made it hard for me to determine where the fish were holding up, but after a quick lap I got settled in a swim round the back end of the lake.
I’d already tied some rigs the previous night and got my rods all set up as I knew I was fishing at some point this week, I’d prepared two hinged stiff rigs and was using 12mm pop ups, with deception angling size 6 choddy hooks both pinned down by their weed green tungsten putty.
I took around 3kilo of matrix bollies from duster baits, surprisingly I didn’t use all of it.
Without hesitation I got both rods out, I put one straight ahead to the edge of the island and the other to open water, settling in I’d finally managed to lay down for 5 minutes until my left rod screamed off, I was not expecting a bite so soon but jumping up I was quick on the take, after a few minutes of trawling through the weed and the occasional outburst of energy It finally slipped nicely into my net.
There before me was a lovely dark mid double common, buzzing!! this was only my second session to the lake and I was well chuffed with the results
