What a year, personally it’s been full of ups and downs, thankfully the ups greatly outweigh the downs but that’s life right? Start of the year I got taken on as part of the Sticky Baits promo team along with a very good friend of mine which was a touch, mid march my partner called one night when I was working late screaming down the phone at me, I legged it out of work but before I’d got more than 50 yards she stopped screaming and finally spat it out that she was pregnant !
Fishing had always taken a back seat but was about to become even more of a rarity. I didn’t really get my fishing head on till august as work was so busy, coupled with moving house in May and all the grief that comes with it (decorating, gardening etc).
The fishing kicked off fantastically when I did start going and the short evening sessions made it a joy, little kit and really working at my fishing again instead of going through the motions, I found the bug for it again. A few sessions in and I bagged a minter and by early September I had bagged the target I had set myself in the shape of a 30 before the baby came along, only just mind with it weighing 30lb 4oz. With that done I cracked back on with work and only done a 24 hour session and a day dangling down the river with one of the lads.
Bang November 3rd 2014 12.51pm a date that has been etched into history, the day I became a dad and the day me and my fantastic otherhalf became parents to our first child, little Breccan came into the world.
I have done 1 night since he has been born but I couldn’t care less, there are far more important things than fishing and I’d rather be at home with him than sat by a lake especially at this time of year.
So here to 2015 and hopefully a few more lumps will grace not just my unhooking mat but to all of you all.
