Short session Success..
It was a last minute decision to head to the bank, I finished work around 5.30pm and headed on over to Bentley Fishery around 6.30pm.
Before I settle I have to do my usual stroll round the lake to check out where the fish are holding up, after my second lap I finally decided on a swim.
I managed to get around 1kilo of Duster Baits ‘Matrix’ out (took a 5 minute break as throwing sticks are a killer!!) and positioned my rods.
As it was such a last minute decision I wasn’t feeling organised but I cleared the mess I made and went and chilled in the bivvy.
The hours were passing with nothing but a few liners, with how rushed the day had been and how quick I managed to get set up I was expecting a quiet night but either way it was nice to be out on the bank just chilling.. after all you’ve got to be in it to win it aye 😉
There’s only so long you can lay there and stare at your rods before you unconsciously fall asleep.. I couldn’t tell you what time it was as I was still half asleep when my receiver lit up the bivvy and deafened me with my middle rod screaming off, falling out the bed chair stumbling over to my rods I managed to be quick on the take, This one didn’t seem to have a lot of fight though, a regain of energy once or twice was the closest I got to a battle, but after a few minutes it slipped in the net nicely!!!
What a result, being so quiet throughout the night I was far from expecting a take but this last minute overnight session resulted in a stunning 25lb common…Falling to a IQ D rig with deceptions anglings size 6 X curve hooks, pinned down by their weed green tungsten putty, using the dumpy pear 2.5oz weed green finish lead from Lakebed Leads, can’t fault the quality of the end tackle I’m using , it’s helped me and I’m sure many others in some successful sessions!
Tight lines 🙂 🙂
