Lake Furious – 3
John arrived at the lake for his second trip, the conditions were completely different as the summer weather was beginning to show. With temperatures fluctuating from 25-32 degrees.
He fished from the newly renovated peg 2, Straight to the opposite bank where two huge canopies sit in and above the water also present in the swim is an old standing platform in which the fish love to swim under and around.
The weed has really started to take hold in the lake and it is very thick in places unfortunately as of yet I haven’t been able to correctly identify the weed type but it is very strong and rope like with a red brown colour to it.
John fished three rods with the same combi rigs and pink pop ups, due to his previous session he knew this tactic worked so enforced the tactic on all three rods.
A cast to the opposite bank Is a long way and to get the bait accurately where you want to be fishing Is even harder especially with hazards, such as overhanging trees and strong crosswinds.
Dinghys are prohibited on lake furious but the use of bait boat is accepted and it is between the anglers fishing to use them with respect towards other anglers.
John used a mix combined of hemp, pellets, corn and boilies whole and chopped.
The right hand rod was fished further down the opposite bank to the right where two big trees stand close to the waters edge and this rod was a guaranteed daytime action rod.
His left hand rod was fished just to the left from the big canopies directly opposite and his middle rod was fishing to canopies near the old standing platform.. Due to the nature of the snags in this area it is advisable to fish carefully and never be too far from your rods as it can and almost certainly will be hook and hold situations.
The canopies were the guaranteed action starting from early evening and going all through the night as long as the bait and rig was placed in the same area!
It didn’t take long for John to start getting on the fish, and after just a few days he already had an impressive tally of carp to his name.
Starting off with daytime captures of commons weighing in at 30lb 32lb and a 40lb+
With the mirrors coming during the evening and early morning with weights of 20lb two different 30lbs+ and a 31lb. During all of the hectic fishing john also managed to bag a lump of tench that weighed in at just over 10lbs!
Good angling and I know John can’t wait to get back out and continue to bag some lumps.
