short first session off the mark

So starts the first day of my new syndicate first thing first pack the kids off to friends for a while them I’m on the road or should i say motorway heading south to the Northampton area, Jumping on the m6 toll at the end of the road and £5.50 later I’m soon on the m1 and making good time no traffic as yet as its midday i should arrive around 1.30pm at the venue it a 75 acre gravel pit which holds some stunning fish which are all old English.

as i arrive i notice that this wind is blowing very strongly across the lake from the south west and there is wave on it like the north sea.

Its not going to be possible to spot fish in these condition so i continue to make my way down the lake to the end were the wind is blowing into hopefully the fish have followed the wind is my thoughts, Pulling up at the last but one swim on this side of the lake i notice the wind has  swung around and is now facing me, Seems like a good place to have a little lead about my first cast is locking up on the retrieve the second cast ant much better i manage to find a are were the weed pulls fee but that’s as good as it gets in this swim,

theres about 5 anglers on the lake so I’ve got plenty to choose from, i decide to walk along the lake having a lead about in a few swims the next swim is pretty much the same and there somebody in the next but one swim so not to disturb him i leapfrog a swim to the side of him, Throwing a lead around in this swim there seems to be a lot less weed and a soft silt bottom i continue on to the next swim and find a weed bed at 40 yards but clear spots behind it were there’s soft sand and silt.

im feeling this swim and the wind has changed again and is blowing down the lake from the northwest so im going to spend two nights in this swim and be off early morning good friday.

The first night i have only one take a stunning looking scaly mirror graces my landing net the first fish from this new water is a beautiful one and has opened my account at the venue, I’m more than happy to get off the mark.

the next day and night pass in the blink of a eye with no more fish,im still happy though , i think its because ive done what i wanted to do and get off the mark.

before long I’m heading up the motorway home with a set of stunning photos in my phone that will get the most likes on social media im sure.
