I am going to just give you a little insight into myself and my fishing. My name is Gary Lowe AKA milky. I started fishing at the age of 8 on the local ponds for small roach, but after a year or so I wanted to catch the bigger fish that i had seen the others pulling out , which I found out were carp, so after a few years I had built up enough gear to properly go after carp. I caught my first double from lake meadows in Essex at the age of 12.

I was fishing more and more then all the school holidays and weekends. I caught my first 20 at the age of 15 which was a massive fish in them days. Once i had passed my test and bought a car I was of to pastures new, to find some massive fish. I was getting to know more and more people, shich meant got to know of lakes that contained 30s which I thought I would never catch but after a few year I managed to hold one for the cameras.

After that there was no stopping me. I managed to join one of the best lakes in the country, which helped me to get into some of the lakes that I had only heard of. One of them lakes was Harefield Lake with such names as Rob Maylin and Steve Briggs etc,  which I became good friends with and fishing with these people helped me get tickets for lakes that I would not had a chance of getting in. After i had spent a good few years in the Colne Valley I decided to fish closer to home on lakes such as the Manor Little Grange where I caught my pb of then which was 47lb, which I thought I would never beat, until I heard of a big fish being caught from Cleverly Mere in Essex, I got a ticket for there the following May which I was well pleased with.

I arrived at the lake to do my first night and as I walked round I caught see that it was busy so I opted for a small bay away from everyone thinking that the fish would be away from all the lines. The first night passed and nothing had happened so after cooking a nice breakfast I sat there watching the water for signs of fish when I had a couple of bleeps on the middle rod then a few more. Then the bobbin started to do watch I call the Bream dance so I took my time getting to the rod, but as soon as I picked up the rod I knew it wasn’t a Bream. After seeing it roll a few yards from the net I new it was a decent Carp but I had no idea how big until I lifted the net then I new I had the biggest fish in the lake on the scales she went 52lb 4oz of English mirror which was my pb and still is to this day, but I have joined a lake up in Wales which holds a bigger fish so watch this space.
