So just a quick update on my happenings over the past week or so…
With this warm weather I’ve been lucky enough to get out on the bank for a few evening sessions. After locating fish in a lovely overgrown bay area we have been trickling bait in and it seems to have worked as I personally have had 4 fish from the area in as little as 3 evening session visits. All takes coming off the same spot. None of the fish were monsters but with fish being few and far between recently I was more than happy with how I have adapted rigs and terminal set-up to cater for the needs of the swim. All fish have been nailed and takes have been one toners. Fishing locked up no more than 15 yards to an overhanging tree you can imagine the carnage in 2ft-2.5ft depth of water. Each one took off like a train and one nearly decided it wanted the rod aswell.
It seems like a handful of West Country Baits that have been glugging for weeks slightly squashed down to allow them to flutter onto the silt bed and release those oils seems to be working with A hook bait that is critically balanced and seeping with Hinders Betalin. The Bradwin SM1 Rods seem to be doing the business soaking up every powerful lunge of these summer carp and when they are directly under your rod tip this is a crucial part of the battle as fish can be easily lost. I’ll leave you with a couple of catch shots and hope to catch up with you soon.
